At first, Egyptian towns worshipped their own gods and goddesses. Each god or goddess had their own temple to be worshipped in. Most gods had human bodies and animal heads. An example of these gods was Thoth. They also worshipped certain principal gods like Horus , the falcon god, and Re, the sun god. After years, all Egyptians believed certains groups of gods.

The head god of the Egyptians was Amon-Re. He protected both the rich and the poor. The Egyptians belived that Amon-Re was born at the sunrise and died at the sunset. Since the sunset is in the west the Egyptians think it's the home of the dead.

OSIRIS's life
Osiris, who is the god of the living and the dead, was the son of the chief god Re. He was also married to Isis, the goddess of women,who he was ressurected by. He was put to death by Set, his brother. His brother killed him by tricking him to get into a box,and then throwing him down the Nile River. After that his wife found his dead corpse to make a shrine, but then Set stole the body and cut of all his limbs, and then threw them back into the Nile River, and then Isis found all the body parts and made a shrine. His son Horus later assasinated Osiris's brother Set or Seth.
